Introducing San Diego Chiropractor Dr. Chris Elleraas, D.C.

On the high school football field is where Dr. Chris Elleraas began his chiropractic path. After a practice one day he could barely walk due to a compressed nerve in his back, shooting pain into his leg. He is fully aware of the devastating effects of subluxations and pressure on nerves. His parents after bringing him to many doctors brought him finally to a chiropractor and the rest is history...his chiropractic career was born!

San Diego, California Chiropractor, Dr. Chris Elleraas

Dr. Chris Elleraas is not a native of San Diego County; born and raised in North Dakota, he can truly appreciate San Diego's great weather and beauty. After graduating from North Salinas High School, Dr. Elleraas went on to pursue his pre-chiropractic Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at San Diego State University. After SDSU he relocated to Whittier, California where he attended Southern California University of Health Sciences formerly known as Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC).

During college he was an active member of the Gonstead Club, attended countless educational seminars and served as president of the Technique Club. Upon graduation Dr. Elleraas served an additional internship under the tutelage of Dr. Ken Graham, owner of Crossroads Family Chiropractic in Oceanside, California. Through his recommendation Dr. Elleraas began his private practice in the Carmel Valley area over ten years ago.  He began his practice performing the Gonstead method exclusively and now, with much clinical experience, he brings his unique ability to locate and correct the subluxation complex.

Dr. Elleraas lives in the Carmel Valley area with his wife Nicole, daughter Ava, and son Ethan. Dr. Elleraas enjoys numerous activities especially golf, running, biking, reading and fly fishing in the Northern Sierras.  Dr. Elleraas has dedicated his life to educating and informing the public about the value and necessity of chiropractic care. He has devoted himself to helping all patients reach a level of maximal health through the detection and correction of the vertebral subluxation complex.

Dr. Chris Asks some important questions of interest to San Diego residents - Chiropractor San Diego Dr. Chris Asks...

Why is a "slipped disc" unlikely?
Separating each spinal vertebra is a disc. Its fibrous outer ring holds in a jelly-like material. Because of the way a disc attaches to the spinal bones above and below it, it can't actually "slip." However, a disc can bulge, tear, herniate, thin and collapse. But it can't slip.
Where do most San Diego residents get their first vertebral subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of vertebral subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every San Diego newborn.
